“Drywall Finishing looks very simple, but it's the hardest part of drywall skills to master."

Human eyes are fantastic at noticing when something is just off, or irregular. There’s no special training required. It’s just what our eyes do instinctively.

Our job as pro drywall finishers, is to trick the human eye into believing that the wall or ceiling is indeed flat.

When in reality, there’s nothing flat within a home, especially the walls and ceilings.

Basically, our pro drywall finishers are magicians. It’s all about the magic, huh?

Drywall Finishing FAQs

Drywall finishing typically involves fixing holes, cracks, or other damage to drywall, (also known as gypsum).

This can include:

  1. Applying joint compound (also known as mud) to the repair area to smooth out any imperfections and blend the repair with the surrounding wall.
  2. Taping the joint with paper or fiberglass tape to strengthen the joint.
  3. Applying (2) additional coats of mud and sanding them smooth.
  4. One application coat of primer.

Drywall finishing typically involves fixing holes, cracks, or other damage to drywall, (also known as gypsum).

The drywall process can be quite involved and time-consuming, depending on the size and location of the repair. It can also require some specialized tools and materials. It’s typically best to hire a professional.

Yikes!  It’s almost $50 to get a pizza delivered to your house!

  1. With that said, some small repairs, such as patching a small hole, can be done by a handy homeowner. However, larger repairs, such as drywall finishing a large panel or multiple panels, should require the services of a professional contractor.
  2. The cost of drywall finishing can vary widely depending on the extent of the damage, the location of the repair, and the cost of materials in your area.

Here’s an example

Drywall Finishing, (less than 8SF), average between 3-5 hours of labor which is spread out between (2) separate work-days.

  • The first day: To apply the tape seams and block-coat of mud. Then we clean up and leave, to allow the (block-coat) to dry.
  • The second day: To apply two more coats of mud, minor sanding, and one application coat of primer.
  • It is also important to consider that the repair cost will not only be a two-day process, but also for the drywall repair itself, and for the cost of materials, such as drywall, joint compound, and primer.

If your drywall finish is done incorrectly, everybody will see it.  Your wife… your family… even your dog will see it.

In the future, possible home buyers will eventually see it, and immediately assume your drywall had water damage. Never a good thing.

That’s why it’s important to hire a professional you can trust for all of your drywall repair and installation needs.
